A geek I am certainly NOT! Ignore Avast, go with your ccleaner. It's not so much that Avast is out for your money as it is that Avast is quite assertive. I have had both free and pay-for Avast - loaded with only modules the rest remained uninstalled.
We parted ways some back. As RolandJS posted, forget avast. One of the earlier cleaners of Avast called Grimefighter said "grime" was on a clean install of Windows and needed to be cleaned.
